    ... antipasto! Dinner didn't start until 7pm so we headed out to locate the restaurant, then did a bridge to bridge (Ponte Vecchio) stroll, taking in the sights, Uffizi Gallery for one.     ... Lazzarani factory, where the master glass maker, Alexander, demonstrated the two methods of making glass by blowing a vase and then by making a horse out of a mass of molten glass. After the demonstration we were taken into a showroom housing an exhibition of all the different types of glassware produced by the factory and, of course, encouraged to make purchases!

    ... gotten any shorter for San Marcos. It was slightly shorter but not really. We waited anyway and the line ended up moving quite quickly. The basilica was beautiful inside. The ceiling is a mosaic of brilliant gold tiles. It was very impressive. Unfortunately it isn't permitted to take photos inside but it was definitely worth a visit.     After our short ride on the fast train from Rome to Venice (top speed of 245 km/hr on our 3.5 hour ride), we arrived at around 5:30pm. Although we were only about a 1/2 mile from the hotel, it took us about an hour to wind our way to the beautiful old hotel.
