Azure Blue on the Cyclades

... a little winding path and such a steep incline we were both knackered just looking at it!! However, instead of doing the right thing and walking up we decided it was a good idea to get a taxi... in the form of a donkey!! I was great fun! There was massive amounts of confusion with Greek men yelling at people and donkeys as they tried to sort out which person was riding which donkey. It was comedy! Once we all finally were saddled up, the donkeys started the climb. Needless to ...

Lazing on a Beach

... portion of the island hasn't been built on so there are brown hills everywhere. There are also a lot of churches on the top of hills which you can walk up to get a good view of the island. Tomorrow we plan to have a bit of a drive around the island and see the bits that we haven't seen yet and then we will be leaving for Naxos on saturday.

... to come back in 10 years, they would still be there under that big tree in the main square in the exact same spot. I have no doubt! It's the same everywhere really. Portugal, Spain, Hungary, Ireland. Just another variation of the other. I like those moments. When so many things you see while traveling are contrived and dramatized, it's comforting to know it's not all a lost cause. So I hope those old men do stay there forever....

Life on an Australian colony

... goes to for now (only about 5 are open at the moment). It's the precise situation I was hoping to find myself in to celebrate my birthday (May 16th, if you're wondering). So, in a word, life is good. That's really all there is to it, every day is more or less the same, hang out with friends by the bungalows, head into work, eat some free food and then meet everybody at the pub. As I said, life is good.

Greek island Ios

Arrived really early (5am) and decided not to bother with accommodation as we'd have to pay for it. Hung out at cafe doing the internet thing and watching the sunset. The island had a good vibe about it and it finally hit us that we could relax and have a good time (once we got some good sleep) Trekked for a while after 9am in the hot sun and found a room for the six of us (Emma, Megan, Naomi, Ryan ...
