Much of the ebb and flow of the neighborhood was based on "the old country". Gardens were a big deal and everyone had to outdo the other. By 4 pm we headed to the Quality Inn in Old Saybrook where we would be spending the night.
As neither one of us was particularly hungry, we had a light dinner at The Penny Lane Pub. At 9:30 pm we were back in our hotel room.
