... we were staying in the old city so there are loads of little alleyways taking you in the wrong direction, after asking many locals to so us the way we realised we had gone the complete wrong direction and ended up walking round most of the fort walls searching for the entrance.
Eventually we arrived and paid 250 rupees each entry fee which included an audio guide, the audio guide was brilliant, it gave us loads of information and told us loads of ...
I'm not sad at all actually... Jodepur was quite nice, I just thought the title "blue city blues" was an excellent title.
Perhaps an unwritten Miles Davis masterwork. lol.
Anyway, I have nothing really to say. I just thought I would put up some photos. But certianly the most exciting I did in Jodepur was taking a bus out to the city of Oysian for a mini camel safari. Yay for ...
Just a flying visit to Jodhpur, arrived at half five in the morning, got a rikshaw to Pushp and went back to bed for a few hours before spending the afternoon in the Internet cafe. Had Tandoori chicken for dinner (Yummy) said our goodbyes to Santosh, KP and the guys before going to bed early as we had to catch a 5am train to Jaipur.
Jodhpur, Rajasthan, India pixelchick... have got something cheaper, but it's in a really old building, with a view of the fort so we couldn't complain. Breakfast on the roof top restaurant set us up for the day, which found us heading to Meharangah Fort. Even from the outside it looks pretty impressive, hanging on the edge of a cliff and dominating the town below. My ankle has been feeling much better, so we decided to walk up there ...
Jodhpur, Rajasthan, India cleavers... shops. The towns across the Desert are still dominated by the mighty forts and impressive palaces that the rulers of the land built, and people here have great respect for the Maharajas/Maharanas - and many of the people that you meet are quite keen to talk to you about which part of the city each generation had built up. After partition, in fact in the 1970's, power was taken from the Kings of the regions, and many of them were forced to find ...
Jodhpur, Rajasthan, India ashleythomas... at me. One in particular drove off the road, cut in front of me, shout hello and just stare. In the evening a man cycling along the road stopped where we were sitting, I deliberately put my back to him so he then dumped his bike and walked up to us, nothing to say he was just looking. The list goes on, it gets old pretty quick and this was just one day ...
Jodhpur, Rajasthan, India dianenew123... to spend 6 days on a camel riding to Jaisalmer"....I heard this from several men, none of which look like they would turn down business...."Jaisalmer is only about a 6 hours drive on the Highway...why don't you just go out on a day trip?!?"....I pushed on, stubborn (this would later prove an asset) as I am....I was determined to fly my kite in the desert and then caravan it to Jaisalmer... Then I met Ganga Ram Singh...a man of immensity: big moustache, big ...
Osiyan, India w4nderer... too much or guilty that you took advantage. Many guesthouses and restaurants have rooftop lounge areas. It is nice to sit up there and listen to the city below. You will hear music from wedding's happening in the distance, the Muslims call to prayer over the speakers and children and families living their lives. It is nice and peaceful to watch from high up the happenings of the towns. More pics soon. Check back.
Jodhpur, India gra8ful... on a little table and chairs outside the room? Pretty funny seeing DKs face at that rat comment tho! We walked up to the Fort and did the tour, it was very good so I recommend it and getting the head phones. From the Fort we sort of followed our noses and made our way into the town... . IT WAS AWFUL! Totally manic, not sure why i think this, in reality its no busier than Liverpool on a Saturday afternoon Christmas time ...
