Kootenay Lake

... Halt einzulegen.

Hot,Hot, Hot!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hello,
We've been so busy I didn't think I'd ever get back to this.
My friend bought some land close to Slocan Lake and invited us down for the long weekend, so of course we went.It turned out to be a wise decision since the temperatures climbed to 40 degrees C. I'm not sure but I think that's around 100 degrees F.
The lifesaver of the weekend of course was the beautiful lake ...

Summertime, and the living is easy...

... railway tunnel dating back to 1913. The local swimming hole was *supposed* to be just across the highway. Ya, right...Ye olde mud-puddle, maybe. Finally, we asked at the gas station in Grand Forks. The girls there told us *exactly* how to get to the river to swim, and they were right (thank you thank you thank you!). We met a couple of real characters in Grand Forks. One dude owns a vineyard in BC...I think it was called St Michael on the Mount. You should buy a lot of his ...

Hippies, hemp and handwoven hoodies... it's Nelson

Got the Greyhound from Kelowna into Nelson late last night, but still had a little time to look around. In the stunning setting of the west arm of Kootenay Lake, the city of Nelson sits largely unoffensively in the valley on the South-Eastern lakeshore. I use the word 'city' here loosely, as it is technically a city, but with a population of 9,000 it's not exactly epic by European standards.

There was a complete lack of franchises in the downtown area, which i guess is done ...

... my lesson. Then we walked around the beach and found a waterfall to stand under which was fun. After that we drove to Nelson which is also a place by the lake....(this lake is huge!) We sun baked on the beach while looking up and the snow capped mountains ironic really.. We wondered around the town and had a quiet night in because of the massive day before. So this morning we got up had some ...

... could be roughly two years). Ideally, she would like to finish it on the road in hopes to apprentice afterwords. (Anybody interested in her studies are more than welcomed to inquire through this blog site, as she will happily respond. So its as though we've had an internal pull back to Nelson ever since we had left to go to Kelowna in the late spring. Kelowna for us was a time to work, spend time with ...

WWOOF

... We met a lot of Quebec'ers and French people at this particular place, and it was unusual that the language around the place was predominantly French. It was great, we got to practice our listening skills, rocked out to some cool Quebec tunes and met some awesome Quebec'ers (that's you Natacha!). Another highlight was being able to play with our hosts' kids, 2 year old Yael and 6 month old Seth, adorable little boys. It sure did make us teary for you baby ...

JULIE FINALLY WINS

... covered almonds, chewy Mike & Ike's, and Reeses-Pieces, and sat in Brian and Debbie's car pigging out and giggling. Johnny - normally a health nut - commented that he would only have to be high for me to be able to sell him on my all-ice-cream-diet. We only had to wait for Julie to steer us back to Brian and Debbie's to witness some of the less glamorous side of marijuana use. Grizzled, wild-eyed Brian spoke eerily calmly all evening, as if he was a bomb ...
