The Great Escape

So for my Spring break, I stayed right around Wollongong mainly. But my vacation was "The Great Escape", a music festival held in Sydney's Olympic park. It was a three day long festival with over 130 artists! I went for all three days, and it was well worth it. I not only got to see so many good artists, but now I have a base of Aussie music, so I at least am familiar with some of them. I saved my schedule that they handed us as we walked in the gate, and I went through and ranked all of the ...

Lot of of big hills in NSW

... to do some sight seeing. Our first stop was the war memorial. We didn't realise how big it was and we all found it very interesting. It is done so well. Unfortuantely it shut before we got to see half of it. Might have to head back again tomorrow to see the rest. Then went and saw the national police memorial. It's amazing how many are from WA and sad to see how many there are in total. Well - nearly bed time. For all those dad's tomorrow - hope you have a happy fathers day.

... from today - we did have a funny episode at the war museum - typical John. Thanks go tonight to young chloe who rang us to tell us she did a you know what in the toilet tonight - congrats bubby girl!! Ps - i meant to tell you that John touched the exhibit with the jeep - even though it said not to - and set the alarm off. Security came running and we went running - in the opposite direction! He is going to get me in trouble :)

Having a Capital time!

... We had a wander round the city, which was really quiet considering it was a Saturday, and took in some of the sights. We headed to a different campsite for the evening (this time with WiFi hoorah) at the Canberra Motor Village. On Sunday morning we went to market in the city which was awesome - lots of tasters to test in the food section! We bought some Thai Curry paste from a lasy at the Thai stall who commented on Will's 'Volunteer Thailand' t-shirt ...

National Folk Festival

... as the zero grass and enclosed space of the massive tent worked together to create an 'el natural' smoke machine effect which involved truck loads of dust floating through the air. When the performers would comment on how hard it was to breathe or that all their equipment has a thick layer of dust covering it I just told them it was helping to create the 'organic folk festival' feel... what? I thought I was convincing. Aside from ...

Day 152

... of Canberra before i use the toilet for a No 2 and where i think I've shared the same seat as Prime Ministers past and present (I'm filling space here). We see the chambers and then return to the car and city and watch 'Sweeney Todd' which is great and really nice cinema to boot. We drive out of Canberra attempting to get as close to Melbourne as possible which is mildly successful as we stop for a gorgeous sun set ending up 350km away as we pack up for the night.

Oh my Grace!

... lovely day though. I've never celebrated Christmas before and this year I got to do it three times. We spent Boxing Day doing the whole shebang again but at Ali's moms. She made up crepes for breaky. I even got to put maple syrup on mine. This is something I would never even do at home but it for some odd reason made me feel closer to home. Then we did more presents and had lunch. I think that all my favourite foods in the world were served at this lunch. Hummus ...
