... 3.5 hours in the car we arrived here in Hanmer Springs. Pulling into the hotel was the first time Wendy had to (urgently) remind Dave to drive on the left side of the road - not bad after 1,000km!!!! We headed straight to the hot pools that the area is known for, and it promptly started to SNOW!!!! Couldn't believe it. Oh well - that is what these sorts of adventures are all about.

... sulphur pools at various levels and temperatures, then clear freshwater pools all interlinked and flowing into each other, a lazy river, aqua therapy pools with jets pummelling you in all sorts of places, Scott had to drag me out of that one! ... what we can afford was a bit of a task but looking back we did well. It's the opposite now of Akaroa, been able to buy whatever but also having to do the cooking! We had chicken, mushroom and onions in a mushroom sauce last night with some potatoes. I wanted mash, so I added milk and marg, before finding out theres no masher! So I had to use a fork.
