nice place but a little dated. Booked a villa for my wife's birthday expecting it to be lavish like the images on the internet. Alas it was not. it seemed to be a little outdated, and in need of a 'freshen up' and definitely looked nothing like what was on offer on their website.

... the Waipara Valley vineyard for lunch. They use biodiversity in the vineyards, so no pesticides; instead small dragon lizards are used to control the insects. They also grow plants in between the vines to attract wasps which in turn eat the unwanted insects. Apparently this is going back to the Maori way of using/ working with the land. The Pinot Gris we tried complimented the seafood platter which included a cold Thai style fish soup - very tasty. ...

... well at for a change. Usually I am a shocker at this game. Larraine cornered the market on out of bounds shots while Phil had to be reminded he was playing mini golf not golf on the pro circuit.
Lunch was back at the park eating minestrone leftover and bread before heading back down the street to the thermal springs. It was a very relaxing hour going from pool to pool ...

... up school again today. I'm really starting to feel like I've been going to school here for a while. I've made some good friends, finally got my full uniform (pictures coming tomorrow), and I even helped Lachlan coach the 8th grade basketball team after school.

Below I've added some pictures of the 11th grade common room at the Somes house. As you probably could have ...

... with a trip to the Hanmer Hot Springs. These ones were commercially made with differing temperatures and types of pools. So relaxing. I must have been a sight with the scrapes, bruises, bites and black-bottomed bathing suit. We free-camped again that night from a beautiful view point and then headed to Kaikoura. We had grand plans to paddle-board in Kaikoura but ended up free-camping for a night and doing some reading. We stopped off on the ocean highway to ...

... had got sucked in and untied itself. The girls protected Clare's modesty. Returned to our van and had lovely homemade Clare quiche and salads for our meal. Left all the clearing up till tomorrow. Girls went to do toiletries while Tony battled with making two double beds in a very confined space. Poor Clare is on the top bed and her nose is about 6 inches from the roof.......but that's part of the fun. All settled down and I expect we will be awake ...
