... the Waipara Valley vineyard for lunch. They use biodiversity in the vineyards, so no pesticides; instead small dragon lizards are used to control the insects. They also grow plants in between the vines to attract wasps which in turn eat the unwanted insects. Apparently this is going back to the Maori way of using/ working with the land. The Pinot Gris we tried complimented the seafood platter which included a cold Thai style fish soup - very tasty. ...

I must have been a sight with the scrapes, bruises, bites and black-bottomed bathing suit. We free-camped again that night from a beautiful view point and then headed to Kaikoura. ... had got sucked in and untied itself. The girls protected Clare's modesty. Returned to our van and had lovely homemade Clare quiche and salads for our meal. Left all the clearing up till tomorrow. Girls went to do toiletries while Tony battled with making two double beds in a very confined space. Poor Clare is on the top bed and her nose is about 6 inches from the roof.......but that's part of the fun. All settled down and I expect we will be awake ...
