Osmotherley to Chop Gate

... 3 steep climbs (accumulatively 1000m) and descents . The gradients were tough but we were rewarded with spectacularly clear views to the north and east. For much of the time the ground to the left of the path fell away steeply giving uninterrupted cliff like views to the fields and villages 1000 ft below. The moorland itself was covered with heather, some in flower and much prettier than anything we had crossed ...

Dinner at the White Swan last night was not great. The tiny pub only had 7 guests, 3 C2C walkers, 2 C2C cyclists and 2 locals sitting at the bar drinking with the publican and his wife. The rain stopped at least. We walked around ...

... weather has been all over the place. It rained on and off through the day; nothing too heavy but enough to require waterproofs. The showers stopped as abruptly as they started, only to be followed by sticky bouts of sunshine. Waterproofs off, waterproofs on, waterproofs off etc, etc! It was a bit of a pain. The countryside continued to impress with its beautiful greens, made all the better by the dramatic grey skies. Richmond is the largest town along the coast ...

... wild flower meadows, along narrow river bank paths, across farmland and a short stretch of asphalt. We arrived in Reeth at 4pm, bought an ice cream from a shop on the village green then headed to our accommodation. We had dinner with 2 Aussies we keep meeting along the way. It was a great night with lots of laughter about all things silly. It has been a very pleasant ...
