... After the tour we had a light lunch at the cafe then drove onto Durham. The A1 was diverted at Berwick on Tweed via the A682 to where it joined the A1 just before Newcastle. Very nice farming areas with lots of hay making and sheep. Found the accommodation but no meals Sunday so had to walk 10 mins to a hotel. On coming back to the inn we had a great conversation with people in the ...

Why Nothing Makes Me Happier

A travel blog entry by emilyfrederick on Oct 09, 2014

... 8217;t understand this compulsion, and yet I never questioned it. It seemed as much me as anything else I had ever encountered. It was, indeed, the first time that I truly felt alive, because I felt a part of something much bigger than me. Our little Vauxhall Mokka was great, diesel and did an average of 67MPG, parking sensors front and rear, very handy and just enough ...

An amazing day on the moors

I was planning to say that this was the best day ever, had the most fantastic walk, lots of hard work up and down, but the views were stunning, and the scenery totally different from all that has gone before. However, it all changed in the last hour when it actually started to rain - we ignored it for a while but in the end I did put on my poncho as it was getting so cold high up on our heights. Plus, to add to our discomfort, our path came to this immense clump of rocks - the Wain ...
