We haven't seen much in the way of wildlife during our stay in Belgium other than at 'our' lake. This morning we had a visit by a red squirrel and I just managed to catch it through the fly screen before it scampered off. A bird came to the bird feeder when I was here on my own and we see a flock of Canadian Geese and ducks regularly. There was a tiny frog on the paving one wet morning.

There have not been a lot of poppies around and it's been hard to ...

    Some long overdue cleaning

About 35 years-- that's how long! Denise went into town to do some shopping and I stayed at home to do some tidying up which developed into a full-blown detail clean of the galley floor-- which needed it. A delay at the first lock So far our time in locks has been very quick with virtually no delays at all. We ...

Today we drove to Beesel to do a walking tour. We drove there and before we started our walk we stopped at the Herberg De Bongerd restaurant to have coffee and apple vlaai (cake). We then started our walk. We was walked through beautiful countryside beside the Maas River. The day was superb and we completed 12.5kms. We saw ...

Getting to Roermond and another inactive day

A travel blog entry by anthonygoodwin on Jul 21, 2015

... A bottle of Australian red went over very well with the harbourmaster. 20th July It pays to plan We moved along very well but noticed that my big day's planning a few days before did not in fact include the detailed plan for the trip to Roermond. I thus discovered that it was about 15km longer than I'd though and one more lock (a major oversight), so our 4-5 hour trip became nearly six. 20th July " -- two to eight weeks" At the last lock just ...
