... thingy. Again its just purely over the top and very structured. for instance they don't even have a real wedding cake...its got like ten tiers and a slit where they put the knife down for the 3 millionth photo. Everyone has a photo with everyone else and so on and so forth. I tried to understand what i could but quite enjoyed just working it out (at times i played the funny voiceover game making up things they might be saying...kind of like they do on have i got news for you..) i ...

Lanzhou, Gansu, China barevnycirkus... here. Its style and grandeur make it the most important in Tibet. Basically it's a tall, round building where the chapels are all little offshoots all around it, with stairs leading thro' the middle to 6 floors of similar chapels. It's quite a unique experience, once more, with every chapel containing an awful lot of detail. It was a case of quickly glancing most and carefully examining the details of others, as the 6 floors took some covering! There was a ...
Lhasa, Tibet, China lyncraven... from the fact of three gifts, even though the biblical narrative never says how many Magi came. In some cultures, especially Hispanic and Latin American culture, January 6th is observed as Three Kings Day, or simply the Day of the Kings (Span: la Fiesta de Reyes, el Dia de los Tres Reyes, or el Dia de los Reyes Magos; Dutch: Driekoningendag). Even though December 25th is celebrated as Christmas in these cultures ...
Shangzhou, China eddakath... with artists from the US there was an outhouse shaped teapot. I'm sure the Chinese must think we're all nuts. After the museum we took taxis to see another dragon kiln. Li referred to this one as "antique." It was a 500 year old kiln used in the Ming (?) dynasty that is still in use today. They were getting ready to fire it the next day. This kiln was much more "dragon" like than the first one we saw. It looked like a huge ...
Yixing, China red_head... purpose. What a beautiful idea! My waitress was a student from Zhengzhou here on her summer break earning money by working for her aunt. Her English was actually not too bad but she obviously had a problem listening as when I ordered Fried Rice (both in English and Chinese) she would then point to the most expensive thing on the menu ...
Ji Gong Shan, China eddakath... still me! There really is still and hopefully always will be a part of me inside that will always do something stoopid enough to make those around me wonder how the hell I got this far. But the fact is, I have got this far and part of that fact is the fact that I do stoopid things that help change my future pathways for the better. So Wednesday found me up much ...
Shaowu - Fujian Province, China eddakath... around and some sand lizards and stuff and we played cards and had races down the sand dunes and later on played drinking games with our camel guides (none of them could speak English). My back was really sore after camping and so that made the camel ride back the next day hard, luckily it was only 2 hours. The desert is called the Tennger desert and is the 4th largest in China. We got got back to the ...
Zhongwei, China christinatours... he contacted many travel agents on my behalf, we resulted using an 'illegal tour agent', on the sixth floor of an an office building behind whose locked door, money changed hands, and my trip was arranged. I was to enter Tibet after 'they' arranged everything in 10 days time. meanwhile, I relaxed in David's small impoverished apartment and visited ...
Lanzhou, China mr_rain... is amused by the concept of discretion when passing the front desk. By now, using nothing but sign language, the phrase book and guide book, we have found out that she is a sales director, has been to Turpan on a one-day business trip, has a husband and daughter, and is an Uighur nationalist at heart. The friendly help must have cost her at least Y50, plus standing up her husband and daughter on her return, but she was happy to do it out of sheer goodwill. As ...
