Sarah and I went to the bakery for breakfast and had a leisurely lunch at "Hong Kong Style Restaurant". The milk tea was definitely authentic, I knew that at least.

... which also turned out to be the shower floor. After hearing stories, I am glad I got to experience it in private (I heard in some places, the public toilets are VERY public), but in the shower, too? One challenge at a time please! I never realized how much I move around in the shower until my feet (thankfully in hotel provided sandals) had to be glued to the sides of the squat toilet. My train of thought was something like:

Eighteen hour layover in Guangzhou

After a managable 11 hours sitting in the plane, it was a relief to walk around again in the Guangzhou airport. The immigration officers were so slow to work through the queues that I was stood in line for over an hour waiting to get my passport stamped. Eventually I passed through and got directed to a shuttle bus which took us through the city of Guangzhou for a long drive to our hotel accommodation. ...

... handsome. In Guangzhou I see some men and I think hey he looks kind of like Bruce Lee, in China that never happens. There is no resemblance. Cantonese is a very different language. Even counting to 10 is different enough I didn't have time to learn it properly. I feel I will end up back in this city again. Well it has one of the largest and busiest airports in China/Asia so that's not such a big thing to say.
