Not much of an exploration

11/11 Corfu

We left the ship late and spent some time using the Port's free wifi. We were heading to the bus stop to take a bus into town when we ran into an enterprising taxi driver. He was waiting at the bus stop instead of in the line of taxis looking for €100 fares to tour the island. He offered us a €10 trip to the historic district and the same back. We found ...

His grandmother was cooking. The sign indicated WI-fi.

... is up a 2 kilometre hill?

We headed back into Corfu Town, took pictures of the old fort, walked our bikes through the pedestrian shopping area and then down the road bordering the water. The Veranda restaurant appealed to us and we had our perfect Greek lunch of Greek salad, calamari, Filo wrapped feta cheese with honey and sesame seeds, Mythos beer and retsina. Free WiFi meant that we could chat with James as he was still up in the middle of ...

... water, private hotel pebble beach. Late afternoon we meandered down to the city habour and restaurant area and had a couple of wines at a table right at the water’s edge (no ‘safety’ barriers around here – we could have fallen straight into deep water if we’d had more than 2 glasses each!). ...
