Historical Traveler Reviews Hellenia Yachting Hotel Giardini Naxos

    A good base

    from

Just back from here last week. Went to 10 days independantly. The hotel was very clean and the staff, once we made the effort to speak in Italian were great. The hotel bar staff were lovely (even the Peter Andre wannabe eventually cracked a smile). We stayed B&B in a standard room. We were over the main reception area and other than no lovely sea view this was fine. The rooms were smallish but perfectly functional. Always clean. The breakfast staff were very good, remembering our beverage order each day. We had to get down to the pool area early each day to secure a sunbed. Otherwise there was charge to sit on a bed on the private beach - didn't understand why as we were hotel residents? We went on three trips. Sunset over Etna - wear trainers and take warm clothes as it involves trekking and there is still a touch of snow at the top. An island trip to Panarea and Stromboli which was great (i'd go back to Panarea if I wanted a 5 star chilled out break) and then a boat trip with 'Pepe' who called each day at the beach with his serenading and 'Hello, hello' call. Was a short but fun trip. Our real discovery was taking the bus up to Taormina - 15 minutes and 2euros60. This place is perfect for evening storlling and dinner. Couldn't fault it and there were so many places to eat or drink plus some lovely designer boutiques with bargains. We also went to the Greek Amphitheatre to see a concert and this was another amzing evening. Hotel Hellenia was a good base to go off and explore. One last tip - the cab from Catania to Hotel Hellenia was 100euros, but we got the bus back to the airport from around the corner from the hotel and it was 4 euros each!

    3 star

    from

Nice 3 star hotel, but certainly not a 4 star. At least for their standard rooms. I visited a Deluxe which consists of a view and little more surface.

Rooms are not that comfortable and beds are extremly hard.

Front Desk staff rude. Breakfast crew very nice.

Nice location for the beach. 15 mn walk to the center of the town. Keep it in mind if you are not willing to walk too much.

Not worth the money I spend. I won't go back if I ever go to Giardini Naxos again.

    Simply One Of The Best!!!

    from

Stayed at the Hellenia Hotel from June 26th for 1 week with my wife. As soon as we arrived we had made a good choice, after a recomendation. We paid for an upgrade to a delux room with sea view and very large balcony, definatley worth the extra.

All the staff were excellent, especially in the dinning room at breakfast & dinner, fantastic choice of meals and wine. Hotel is located right on the beach which is fine for swimming and bathing, the hotel pool was very good and the pool bar service was excellent. The only down sound to this wonderful hotel was the location, surrounding area not to good, worth the 20 minute bus ride to Taiormina which is a wonderful town. My wife and I have stayed at a number of 4 star hotels and this has to be quite simply.... one of the best!

    Wonderful Hotel

    from

We were referred to the Hotel Hellenia Yachtimg by an agent. He couldn't have selected a better place for our needs with clean, old world atmosphere almost lush, bright, great with friendly staff and great dining (morning & night). Our room had a terrace looking out over the pool and sea. It was magical & worth the extra charge. The location is excellent and within walking distance of shops, restaurants and other diversions.

Will return next year with a group as our first choice in this wonderful area.

    You can't go wrong.

    Great Hotel

    from

If you want a great 4* hotel, then you cannot go wrong with the Hellenia. The location is ideal, quiet enough for a relaxing holiday, but close enough to the resort for shops and restaurants. The staff at the hotel were great and the restaurant offered high quality food, especially on the Sicilian night where you get to taste a vast amount of local dishes. This hotel comes highly recommended.

Loved the view from our Hotel bedroom

    from

We spent 8 nights at the hotel (Parents and three teenage children) - Bed & Breakfast. Rooms were excellent and as we had a balcony with sea view I would highly recommend this option which was worth the extra amount. Staff were very courteous. Except for the outdoor swimming pool there wasn't much too encourage you to stay around the hotel so we certainly explored the locality, having hired a car in Catania Airport in advance. Mount Etna was very spectacular and certainly is worth a visit. Giardini Naxos doesn't really have too much to offer in the unspoilt beach department so one needs to travel further afield.

    Like a Paradore

    from

We enjoyed Hellenia Yachting hotel very much . It placed in a very conveniet spot, Not crowded, The see view is charming so as the privet beach of the hotel. The room is big, convenient and has all 4 star hotels offer. The in site vew remind us paradores in Spain We got excellent treatment from all the employees. If we will vizit Sicily once more we will make reservation at Hellenia Yachting hotel again for sure. (The only thing that shuld fixed is the flowing water in the bathtub, it's very weak). Thank you again

    Hotel with a Great Attitude!

    from

The Hellenia Yachting Hotel is by far the best hotel I have stayed in throughout Italy and Sicily. Others establishments should take note.

The staff is friendly, most helpful, and courteous. The constantly go out of their way to make your stay a pleasant experience. The dining area on the premises is elegant, with superior professional service.

Every meal is a 5-star event.

    Hellenia Yachting Hotel Excellent

    from

We have just returned from Sicily and had a wonderful time at this hotel. The service and food were excellent the best we have ever had. The choice and variety will be hard to beat. All the staff were friendly although some didn't speak much English, but we had no problems making ourselves understood. The only down side was the swimming pool, which urgently needs refurbishing. It is only a short bus ride to Taormina which is well worth the trip and highly recommended. A great hotel booked with Blue Sky Direct.

    Absoloutely fantastic!

    from

The Hotel is beautiful, not a giant commercial lump of cement, but certainly a cosy well decorated and tasteful affair, Located in the Heart of Giardini Naxos, it has it's own Private Beach which we found to be pleassant, clean and peaceful. Staff are helpful and charming. The highlight of this Hotel has to be the absoloutely exquisite dining rooms, and the sumptuous breakfast, lunches, and especially dinners, served in the highest professional standards I have experienced for a long time in any hotel, the food is a real culinary experience. Highlights are the weeekly outdoor pool side b-b-q's with entertainment, I highly reccomend this place, we'll be back yera after year, thats for sure.

Staying on Ortigia, Siracusa, was a wonderful experience, and it's a place I hope I'll encounter again! Walking back along Via Roma, I again admired the ...

After a rushed start we arrived safely at Catania airport with plenty of time to spare - thank you Mt Etna for not erupting or billowing clouds of ash into the atmosphere so we could depart on time! There was a bit of excitement as we were getting onto the plane . We watched the police penitenziari van roll up and three police get out (in plain clothes) then open up the Bach and a great hulk of a man fumble out ...

Next was off to Milazzo to farewell Anna's new best friend and third cousin Emanuela and baby Marco, Alessia, Giuseppe and Maria and 8 of the other family members who came to say goodbye. By this time it was nearly 6.30 and we still had to have a farewell meal with Zio Tindaro, Zia Mica, Carmelo, Andrea and Barbara. We tried to ...

Why are these ruins in such bad condition?

After lunch with family we headed up with a first class, drive up to the top, locals pass with Andrea and Barbara to the Tindari to have a wander and view the old church which has been closed for nearly 100 years as it is perched precariously on the clifftop. It is open to the public occasionally and today we were lucky enough to see inside. We spent about an hour looking around and then headed up to see the Grecian ampitheatre and ...

After a late night ( or should I say early morning) yesterday we had a very slow start to the day, having brunch at 11. Went to the beach for a quick walk, chatted with an American couple who spend 5 months here every year and then a swim and home for gnocchi lunch at ...
