... everywhere you look -- from the medieval, cobble-stoned streets, the chiesas (churches) and castles, ceramics and arts, to the mountains and sea!

Food, conference, accommodation all included in my 500Euros registration for the week. The food was a pleasant surprise -- each one a two-course meal of local cuisine with different restaurants. I love seafood and there's no shortage in Sicily!

I suffer information overload from the rich historical background shared by the guide. Or perhaps I was too distracted taking photos of the amazing structures by the sea... and just soaking it all in in whatever solitude I find away from the crowd. It is quite an experience being in monuments built more than two thousand years ago and still standing strong and proud.

... that if I want to get to Castellammare del golfo itself in order to get the bus to Palermo, I would need to walk two hours and/or hitch a ride. Or I could wait till Saturday where there may or may not be the chance for a lift.

The busses for Palermo are few and far between, set up for the working people, so I had a choice of 6am, 6.30am, 7am ,7.30am or 5pm! So I set my alarm for 5am and started the walk... If someone picked me up early then ...

Its very different, but it will be a very interesting experience... I'm not sure if they often go into Palermo, but I plan to at least spend the day there before I fly back to the UK

The "office" with the WiFi is in a caravan down a little pathway! And they do not like the web in general, So I should finally be able to share some pics from the last week or so but prob won't update ...

... was clearly not expecting guests. A phone call with Franca herself revealed that she did not know anything about any booking or about Booking.com but that her son would be round in five minutes to let us in. He was and he did. The local paneficio provided supper and set us up for a visit to the Valley of the Temples the following day. Only in Italy would the local baker provide you with a very nice plate of pasta and a chilled bottle of C******nay at 10 o'clock at ...
