... clear day so unfortunately there was little cloud in the cloud forest but was nice and warm and no sign of rain so that was a bonus. We first went to the hummingbird place and it was like a small garden and they'd put up nectar feeders so they would come and hover around. One bad thing was that because the feeders have been there for years the birds have become dependant on them so Jeff was saying that if they were to ...

Week 18: Boquete, Panama & Costa Rica

Buenas! Another week has flown past, and another two borders crossed as we move quickly through Central America. We started the week in Boquete, the small mountain town in the north of Panama, not far from the border with Costa Rica. We stopped here mainly to break up the journey to Costa Rica and to visit a coffee farm, which was one of the activities we missed out on whilst in Colombia. Panama isn't one of the world's big coffee distributors, however ...

I got a chicken parm and it was good :) then we ventured into some shops, a geladería (gelado place), frutería (fruit store) y una panadería (bakery). I bought a DELISH pastry! We later went to the hot springs and it was so cool!! It was like a straight up resort, but the springs were still amazing. They get hotter ...

... It is exciting albeit a bit unnerving to pack and prepare to move our little family again, but this time we take comfort in knowing that our casita in Monteverde will be waiting for our return in what has become a true home. Reflecting on the last month I realize that we have, perhaps for the first time all year, been in one place long enough to actually feel still. Settled. Grounded. The flurry of ...

      Day 4: 20 October 2013

So it turns out here the sun doesn't really rise (or set as we discovered later) because it is so cloudy it just goes from dark blue to light blue! Oh well.

We had booked a jeep-boat-jeep trip to Monteverde (5 hrs) so had time for a quick breakfast in the hotel (more rice and beans) before we were picked up. We were told the road wasn't ...
