First night in Altstätten was a quiet affair at home with Marco and Stephie. We had arrived in the afternoon in the middle of their kids getting home from soccer camp, chucking things in bags and taking off with various friends for sleepovers. Seemed like a very busy last week of the holidays with all the kids making the most of their summer break. Pretty soon it had quietened down with just M, S and Lou left to hear all our tales ...

... There was an indoor butterfly garden, citrus gardens, a grove of rare Sequoias from china, rose gardens, herb gardens, flower sculptures that look like ducks and peacocks. There were ducks, fish, llamas, sheep, ponies for children to ride on. Amongst the flowers were the obligatory umbrellas announcing beer, food and ice cream is available. On the way back to the boat, a dirigible flew overhead. And the weather was warm and dry until we returned to Meersburg when it once again ...

Lake Constance

We headed down towards Lake Constance as a stop off on our way to Munich, although we seemed to be positioned in a small gap between 2 permanent vans which people used as a walk through, it turned out not to be a bad position by the lake.

We cycled into the local villages around the campsite, but not a great deal to see apart from the views.

A nice buffet frühstück in the stomach, and we left Singen to tackle the biggest difficulty so far, a 10km climb, to handle with the weight of the panniers... The knees suffered, but we made it to the top and started cooking a well deserves lunch, only to be drenched in rain and having to move all our little kitchen to a shelter in emergency. ... t progress much, when in fact we did. Also the eurovelo signs suddenly disappeared close to Radolfzell, so we had to improvise with our map to progress. Finding a camping for the night proved difficult, we tried in two places, but got nothing out of the first one and a currywurst and beer out of the second.
