Celebrations and bubbly followed, along with random (unsuccessful) beer-run adventures and random Vimeo videos of a guy called Al that...can't really be explained... Morning brought the next driving leg, towards a mountain cabin outside a town called Helen. Helen was explained to me as a German town in the foothills of ...

It was a good idea in principle, but I spent most of the hike complaining in my head, wondering why I decided to hike more that day and cursing every mountain that came between me and my bed. Without packs we made good time, and Mooch and I got back around 7:30, 2 hours and 15 minutes after we started, and the other guys shortly ...

... a German-themed town. Too touristy for us but Betty's General Store is a must. Walk to the back for fresh soup and sandwiches.

Two active gold mines are situated in Dahlonega and a tour is a must. Learn to pan and make some of the entrance fee back in real gold. I even bought a gold pan - just in case the opportunity arises again. One never knows...
