... amazing pizzeria was followed by alpine mini-golf (yours truly emerging victorious. Of course.) before a chilled night in the cabin. Day 6: 18.9 miles, Tesnatee Gap to Cheese factory site campsite
Day 7: 13 miles, Cheese factory site campsite to ***** Creek Gap
Day 8: 4.5 miles (nero), ***** Creek Gap to Plumorchard Gap Shelter
... starting point, then turn around and walk back down. Day one wasn't bad. I made it to the shelter about 8 miles down the trail, but there was still so much daylight left I decided to go a couple more miles before setting up camp. Shortly after hiking more, I half regretted it, just because I was tired and going uphill and it would have been nice hanging out with the other hikers, but in the end I was fine with my decision. ... famed Amicalola Falls - 3rd highest in the USA and the start/end of the Appalachian Trail. And then hiked from the visitor center to the falls and back on two different trials. Maybe 3 miles or 1/1,000th of the famed Trail. Like spending 10 minutes at the Grand Canyon!
