    ... the gift shop and they had everything cathedral!! We also found a shop we had gone in last time that had official German "stuff" and I found the candle merry-go-round thingy mother had...I wanted to get one for our family tradition.     We arrived in Cologne at noon, and after another delicious lunch we headed off on a tour of the city, which is dominated by the Cologne Cathedral. One word for the Cathedral - WOW!!! Us Catholics sure know how to spend the peasants money!!...:-)

    Early this morning, about 4.30, we sailed passed Frankfurt and onto Cologne, berthing at about 1pm. We opted for the city walking tour which was about 1.5 hour duration. We learnt about the history of Cologne, or Koln as it is called in Germany. With a population of 1 million, it's the 4th biggest city in Germany (behind Berlin, Hamberg, Munich). The Romans established a settlement at this location on the Rhine about 2000 years ago and it has has continuous settlement ever ...

    ... bend in the river .this is the largest bend in the river Rhine A lot of vine yards growing on very steep land and there are walking tracks around them . Back to camping ground right on river .It was flooded in June ,water was above reception ,restaurant toilet and shower facilities (showed us photos of the roof only showing ) next to train track and one across the river and very frequent got use to ...

    ... We took another regional train to Duesseldorf at 3:30. In the train station, we decided to stop for Dunkin' Donuts. I asked (on a whim) if they had anything vegan (no milk or egg) and they looked at me like I was crazy and said it was all vegan. They told me the ingredients and I was so happy. I got a powdered strawberry filled donut and the group set off for the old city, except for Colleen who went to meet a friend for a barbeque.
