Shijiazhuang, Hebei, China steve009... Mr. Fu drops us off at the northern part of Shijiazhuang. We need to take a taxi to the north-western part where the Shijiazhuang-Taiyuan expressway is. After getting stuck in traffic for nearly an hour we arrive at a reststop on the Shijiazhuang-Taiyuan expressway. It's now dark and the only vehicles at the reststop are trucks. There's quite a few truck drivers eating at the restaurant at the reststop. We walk in, everyone stares at us, we smile and sits ...

Shijiazhuang, Hebei, China trow814... m either traveling or working a lot on the weekends, I usually never can but this Sunday I made a point not to schedule any lessons so could go. We took two cars out to Dragon Lake- about an hour outside the city. It was beautiful. We went on a speed boat, then went on a paddle boat, then caught some worm-fish things, had a nice picnic and relaxed by the water. It was great. Hoping to be able to go out with them again sometime before I leave. I really like both of their families.

Shijiazhuang, China chinatravel... to drive. I show them my drivers license and they love it. It is so easy to entertain/teach these students because their sense of amusement is much lover than students in America. After class, some of my students wanted to take pictures with me. Beware, if you say yes to one, the rest WILL FOLLOW!! I felt my cheeks going numb after all these pictures, like before prom! It was nice though because the next day they gave me some of the picts :)
Shijiazhuang, Hebei, China billiechristine... can see the random crazies for your self. I really don't know what most of these people are thinking! Saturday was my birthday! I called my family and went to lunch at a fast food place. As Willie, Alissa, and I were leaving, Willie points to a bike and says something like "do you like that bike?" I said yes and then he handed me my keys which he had secretly snuck the bike key on and said that it was mine. During my minute of smiling confusion all I could say was "It's green ...
Shijiazhuang, China 000007428... that represents America. So we decide that we will perform a country western line dance...what can be more American, right!? We brought Josh and Billie to the party because the more foreigners, the better; and all perform a line dance to "Achy Breaky Heart!" There were people performing traditional Chinese opera songs, the Beijing orchestra is there, girls are playing beautiful traditional instruments... and we danced to "Achy Breaky Heart ...
Shijiazhuang, China trow814I am finally in CHINA! It was a long trip but definitely worth it! After landing I easily made it through custom and got my luggage. I was walking out into the entrance to find Mr. He (my wiban) who was waiting for me with a sign but there were so many signs that I was completely overwhelmed. I ended up walking around for 20ish mins when I was approached by a young woman who asked me about 50 questions for a survey and then ...
Shijiazhuang, China billiechristine... family on one roll of the dice. Pressure? Relatively speaking, Chinese students are in a different universe from U.S. students. Making the system even more unfair is the fact that your chances of getting in to a university depend in large part on where you live. If you live in the Beijing area, there are 86 universities - meaning a relative plethora of university places are available. If, however, you live in other areas where universities are ...
