... has rolled in by this point and its a lot colder. There is another hut and campsite about 2km away from the one we are staying in, which apparently has a hot pool and restaurant facilities. By this point a soak in a hot pool is a very appealing proposition so after a rest Alisha and I decide to walk there.

The "hot pool" is nothing more than a shallow pond in the campground filled with lukewarm water and is a world away from the fantastic hot spring in Landmannalaugar, ...

... we took in the sites of Emerald Bay and marvelled at the size and beauty of Lake Tahoe. After stopping off to pick up Randy, we headed up scenic Mount Rose into the Biggest Little City in the World, Reno, Nevada.     Today, the Wallers learned to ski. The kids think it's great, Caragh used the word "palava" once or twice. Granted there was a good deal of lugging gear, and getting on and off various transportation devices. The ski school close to our lodge isn't yet open due thin snow cover, so we had to get a bus, second bus, monorail, and gondola to the start of our lessons. Snow is average for this early in the season by local standards (so not all runs  are open), but was fantastic by ...
