Managed to get hold of a Magsafe 1 to MagSafe 2 adapter for Vince from New Zealand - amazingly lots of the shops were open despite being New Years Day, including the very fancy Apple Shop at Convent Garden - extremely swish over 4 floors. So now he should be able to charge up his Apple laptop to charge up from the solar panel.
Finally, after all was out in the open, we got to catch up with friends and visit old haunts. Apart from some new changes around Brixton (some good, some not-so-good), and the unnerving feeling of less democracy than when we left, the most important thing was that our friends & family were the same (except the niece & nephew, who will insist on growing up...) and our relationships with them unchanged.
