Today we said goodbye to Norwich and our home for three months. There was of course the last minute worries, and the feelings that we had forgotten something, but overall the main feeling is excitement! We stopped off at a pub called the Golden Cross near our hotel at the travel lodge by Heathrow, for some traditional British pub food and drink. Cider, pies and sausages and ...

... lull.

I disagree with the statement that this is a sloppy observation, because the weather in England is such huge part of their culture that it is not simply an icebreaker. I believe that people are genuinely attached to the topic of the weather; it brings up emotions and pastimes in their life. ... pub in London is the Faltering Fullback in Finsbury Park.
The Fullback is located down a residential street and it would be nice to say it's a hidden gem, but the word is out and it's packed most nights, especially in Summer where the famous three floored outdoor decking comes into it's own with it's maze of stairways and there's nowhere like it in London (apart from maybe the 6000 odd pubs we've not tried).
