We decided to come to London today and spend the night near Heathrow so we don't have to get up quite so early. We will leave the hotel in the morning about 8:15 to take Summer and Mike to the airport and be ready to pick up Angie, Billy and Tyler. From there, our adventures will really begin!

Nice & Quiet, good airport hotel

Comfy beds, very quiet hotel, the rooms are well soundproofed. It's quite a walk from the terminal building but is a haven compared to the bustle of T4. I was surprised considering that it supposed to be linked to the terminal, how much of a walk it is, bearing in mind that most people will have luggage. I ate at the lobby cafe area, the servers are friendly but it's certainly not rushed service, and it wasn't busy as was 9pm. The food is ridiculously priced considering it's fairly run of the mill, safe offerings- £13 for a Caesar salad. They know they have you trapped in there so they'll milk you. £3 for a bottle of still mineral water in my room that had been under a spotlight for hours so was rather warm. The rooms are modern and clean, though mine overlooked the internal walkway from the lift area so curtains best closed! Check in & out were quick, liked flight departures display in lobby. Free shuttle to T5 but no other terminals, which is disappointing. Did not have breakfast as suspected this would be similarly expensive.

The past day and a half has consisted of lots of flying and layovers. Yesterday I flew from Chicago to Minneapolis, where I had a five hour layover. After that I flew from Minneapolis to London! After we landed we gathered all of our belonging and quickly headed out to Windsor.

So, my first impression of England was: Wow, nice...damn, there is a lot of traffic! I was never closer than 10 miles to London center, but you would never know it. A warning to anyone who is thinking of riding there bikes over here: DO NOT! If you are used to the US and shoulders on roads, you will be quite shocked, there are none. A bike lane must be some sort of very endangered species, too. Maybe they ...
