... Todd at the Holiday Inn Express. I talked with Homer a couple of times as he gave me info on conditions farther up the road. I have ended my day in Mount Pleasant, Iowa. It is incredibly windy here and they are expecting storms tonight. We will see.

I am now on the home stretch of long, flat roads heading East.
I started the day by eating at Penny's Place, a silver diner with great breakfasts.
Then mile after mile of corn fields and into Missouri, and Iowa.
Lunch was at the Crossroads, a true western bar.
We did manage to make a quick top in Hannibal, Missouri where we saw the brith place of Mark Twain. Unfortunately, all was closed up for the day. We did walk around the town a little bit but the outside temperature was in the mid 90's and we longed for the air conditioned truck.
We saw another wind farm in Missouri and I got a few pictures. Actually, we saw many wind farms throughout the whole country. Some farms were small with less than a ...
... up, my dad and I got out and took some pictures of the Mississippi River. We also watched the barge pass through and make its way down the river to New Orleans.
After waiting a while, the section of bridge rotated back and we continued our way into Illinois.
After driving for such a long time, we got to the Mississippi River. My dad decided we could drive across the river into Iowa, and take a loop back into Illinois to Nauvoo.
