I first visited Portugal on a driving trip about twenty years ago with my cousin, Jane, and we both loved it. Don had never stepped foot in the country, so we signed up for a Viking river cruise on the Duoro river in northern Portugal, departing in early September. We'd taken our first river cruise on the Rhine/Mosel rivers in Germany a number of years ago, and really enjoyed it.
