13-17 Thistle Place Port Fairy, Victoria, Australia, 5568-3150
... base. This stretch of coast has been notoriously deadly for ships throughout history and it was easy to see why, with the heaving water white with foam as far as the eye could see. The cliffs along much of the Great Ocean Road are empty and untouched by buildings or development for the most part and so appear much as I imagine they would have done to those first intrepid travellers reaching the lonely shore. Of course, the shore is a lot less lonely ...
Port Fairy, Victoria, Australia rachelhwalsh... magic on the waves. The thing that is a shock is that there are no shops, kiosks or bars anywhere near Bells Beach. It is beautifully untouched. Back onto the road we head inland, to Erskine Falls, what is described as a waterfall of immense proportions. Due to the dry weather it is nothing but a trickle when we get there. The thing that made the detour worth it was seeing our first koalas. These lazy fur balls were amazingly awake. One of them even walks from one tree to ...
Port Fairy, Victoria, Australia thecolleysAlthough it seems like an eternity ago, I said my goodbyes to the Tilburys, and Darwin, and jumped on a plane for the skip to Sydney (via Brisbane). I stayed with my friend Laurel (Loz) and her hubby and 2 littlies for a short time before popping over the Tasman to NZ. I was there just 2 and a half weeks and with Christmas, and a couple of trips to baches (otherwise known as holiday houses for ...
Port Fairy, Victoria, Australia amandajacaranda... only $1 or free. Café visits were quickly changed from Day 5 to takeaway coffee for me only.) Rode the bikes for ages, exploring the town. Light, intermittent rain was no deterrent. Kids and I went to the indoor pool - Greg to the pub. More intermittent light rain. Organised dinner in the van, Greg needs more practice on the electric frypan - snitzels undercooked and my steak overcooked!! Settled in for a movie. Rain falling heavily now and quite windy ...
Port Fairy, Victoria, Australia millersofoz... a hanging, they would take a plaster of the head to study whatever it is when you study the contours etc of the head in indication to personality). We also saw some armour from the Ned Kelly gang, and Ned Kelly's death mask. (Ned Kelly is the most notorious Australian outlaw!). Wednesday... one of my roomies, Sarah, and her visiting friends/sister from Ireland, rented a van and drove the great ocean road, culmination with the 12 apostles rock formation. We saw heaps of ...
Great Ocean Road, Australia decemberchick... cliffs and big rollers breaking onto the shore. The stops were now coming about every two miles. There was London Bridge, which used to have two arches, but one collapsed leaving two people stranded in the middle of the ocean on a rock and they had to be airlifted out. Then The Arch, a natural sandstone arch created by the sea eroding the coastline, followed by two mile bay and then Loch Ard Gorge which was named after the ship that wrecked there. Only ...
Warrnambool, Australia shieldsontour... pleased absolutely everyone in my Year. THE ONLY TUTOR by far!!! My other main influence is a lot of folk do meditations and stuff all on their own, maybe they've gone to a workshop but still they've done it on there own. At the end there will be questions like "How can I face the world now I'm so open?" People would get really spun out by the transition of their own inner journey and outside communication, that is why I want to give people the experience of ...
Port Fairy, Australia sammmiles... in a little earlier. Abby is exercising now (I should be with her - but...) In a couple of hrs. we'll go into town. I wanted to pick up some fish & chips. Can't leave Australia without trying some. We head for Melbourne tomorrow morning. I think we're only a couple of hrs. away. Wanted to get there early. We're scheduled for a dorm room - Ugh!! Want to make sure I'm not on top.
Port Campbell, Australia gloria18... parrots, Rainbow lorikeets, (the most beautiful parrots I've ever seen, and will be posted on blog), dolphins, whales and koala's. It's so cool to see these creatures in their wild and natural habitat instead of in cages. These critters are so commonplace, the folks down here don't even give them a second glance. They must get a kick out of me screaming with delight and grabbing my camera. We got a small cabin in a little ocean town called Wye ...
Port Fairy, Victoria, Australia andersonmiller... school and bank etc a bay and people walking around in colonial dress, they walk around giving you snippits of info. Very educational ( Miss Warren). For a further surprise we went back to flagstaff in the evening to the evening event called shipwrecked. This is a laser show about a wreck at loch ard gorge show in the water spray from the lake. George screamed as the platform moves as the boat sank.
