... these vineyards and ones I see back in southern Ontario have to do with the drought. It is very strange to see rows and rows of barren or brown leafed grape vines. The rain just will not come it seems. And all of this with the back drop of the salt water Pacific ocean right there.

... what they do; the tasting room and their house is covered in trailing white roses and overlooks their gnarly 50-60 year old Zinfandel vines. The tastings are accompanied by meatballs in a Zin sauce and as I don't do meatballs I got some citrus flavoured olives – delicious. Best of all the wines were absolutely outstanding. All of you winey types really need to go visit this place. Seriously.

We had an early rise to head north. We drove over the golden gate bridge and headed into wine country! The first stop was a tasting at siduri. What an amazing Pinot!! This was a very different tasting. They had it in their bottling and storage facility in the city of Santa rosa. ... my neighbor is that when the deer show up to eat my fruit, they no longer crash, boom, bang over the cheesy wood strips I laid before to keep the weeds down. Speaking of which, we had a MASSIVE crop of little cherry plums. Very tasty! Unfortunately the pear tree has some kind of disease, so this year it was a bust. The black berries are just starting to get ripe, so I am grabbing a few here and there.

After a solid tasting, we purchased a bottle of the 2007 Hillside Cuvee, a Syrah and Petite Syrah blend with a fantastic vanilla finish.
