... s a beautiful day for a drive! We do most of the drive straight up the M1 but as we near traffic at a stand still we decide to take the A road. This is the England we have come to see. Beautiful green rolling hills sectioned by grey walls - making the perfect patchwork. Mr S stopped in at the Great Central Railway at Loughborough to see the station and found Mr S' first LMS carriage, which he told me was an Inspectors Saloon - he may or may not have 'whooped' out loud! ... welcome, a great dinner at the Park House, and enjoyed the longest day of the year. Day 21 June 22nd: Park House to Chop Gate. Today's walk was a complete introduction to the North York Moors, with several uphill sections, great views from the moor top, and then steep descents. We completed nearly 13 miles and 3000 feet of elevation gain (with the corresponding elevation loss). We also had rained and gusty winds. The heather is not in bloom, but the views northward were grand ...
