    ... good to be home.Summary:

    7/23-8/9 (18 days)
    7,593 total miles
    20 different states
    24 total states (we rode thru Illinois, Indiana, Ohio and of course Pa. twice - when we went out and when we came back)
    Averaged about 9 1/2-11 hours a day in saddle (except 1 day in San Francisco)
    2 tender butts, red faces and tired bodies.
    One VERY dirty bike
    A mountain of laundry
    Too many bills to count

    ... Russell gave her a big tip. She also loved to talk and told us how Americans really don't like to travel too far from what they know, their families are important to them so they generally all stay in the same town and live nearby supporting each other. (not really convinced that stands for everyone, but it is how here family are). She also told us that the Amish people can be really mean, especially the women. ...

    ... It was dripping sweat nasty today, the knifes edge was awesome tho! It seemed like the first 10 miles went by super quick...then we started to stop and talk ... :) .... and it went down hill for the mileage! But after a big boost from some great trail magic, we made it quickly to town - where we were pleasantly surprised by a quick ride to town!     ... a chock shake that I drank half of. Steve had Deluxe hamburger with onion rigs and fried eggplant Great meal $65 for 5.

    The GPS took us on all back roads coming home and then into a loop around Hass rd, Windsor Castle rd and some other road hence the title of this blog - we needed to reset it and pretend were going to DC until we got onto a numbered route Gabrielle was familiar with.
