... ended up being a fascinating location to people watch the wealthy Kuwaiti families strolling along the coastline, with their Filipino maids in tow to care for their children... evening swims off the hotel's private beach, grabbing meals at a nearby cluster of restaurants patronized by upper-class Kuwaiti youth, donned in their traditional hijabs, turbans and kaffiyehs... a melee of traditional arab headdresses and robes for men and women... It was a strangely beautiful site to see ...
Kuwait City, Kuwait cotafamily4... luxury hotels and lush parks set along wide avenues. The city's major landmark is the Kuwait Towers, visible from the harbor where oil tankers come and go, docking alongside hundreds of cargo ships and pleasure craft. Kuwait is now regarded as a relatively safe destination with plenty to interest the traveller, not only in Kuwait City itself but throughout, from its arid desert plateau to the fertile coastal belt and the nine small offshore islands over which it has sovereignty.

Kuwait City, Kuwait edward.panWell, there are more benefits of the Hilton. First, there are women in bikinis who are not related to the people at work. I didn't go to the Ramadan tent for dinner, but you could eat out on the beach. Now it is time to go home.
Kuwait City, Kuwait nahury1And with the Hilton being closer to the city, it is a quick trip to eat at restaurants up there as well. Back to the Hard Rock - a great deal - all food is 50% off during Ramadan. At least one good thing during Ramadan. Met up with my old technical manager from my chemical plant days. Wasn't expecting to run into him over here.
Kuwait City, Kuwait nahury1Our new home - ain't it great? Not only do we have air conditioning - we have better TV station channels, internet, and better restaraunts.
Fahaheel, Kuwait nahury1... were not able to fix it. They did bring in a small portable unit, but it didn't do much other than get a little airflow and condense a whole bunch of water on the walls and floors. It is amazing how slippery tile can be. Stay tuned to find out what the temperature was in the morning.
Fahaheel, Kuwait nahury1... La Migra. The airport in Dubai really is something to see since it's new, flashy and the biggest in the world. Picture the Atlanta airport on steroids but without the train system to move you around. After walking and walking and walking and walking (do you get an idea how big the place is?) through gleaming glass, steel and marble I got to Gate 104 at the end of the remote terminal. Emirates Airlines uses Dubai as its hub ...
Kuwait City, Kuwait atlpilot36... shreds on the 2nd night of them setting up before our arrival. A wind came through so strong that it even lifted staging and left it hanging amongst our scenery. They managed to rescue almost everything and take further precautions against the force of Kuwait's volatile night winds, which caught everyone including the organisers unawares. The show was a big success and we were glad to have a rest after all that hard work.
