Thought i would give them another try, 2003
from A TripAdvisor Member
well i told recently of my first try at the hawaiin maingate kissimee, flordia, i even got the same room , same problem with the air conditioners called maintance, they showed up next day, slow draining drains, i was going to get into hot tub i realized that one of the lights was loose and hanging into the hot tub , im lucky unlike most people being a woman i a very handy person, i worried about the safety of the elctric and water thats two thing that do not work together, as the light was hanging out i could see the wire and the wire nut that hold two wire conected together hanging in the water, i told them at the front desk they said they would send some one right away i sat by the pool and kept telling people dont get in the hot tub theycam about almost 2 hours later/ they closed down the tub and said out of order sign that was great but what if a child not able to read would have even just put there hand in there, upon entering the hotel i told the manager at the hotel of the troulbe i had had the year before he had told me before if i should com,e back to let one of the people at the desk and they would help me they did they lowered the rate of the room to 30.00 per night
but still all thing was still the same this was during bike week in daytona, and it rained most of the time, but there was still a problem about hot water again. well 2004 i had surgery but i will be returning again in 2005, i will see if i can get a better rate and before i take an asigned room that is if i stay , i going to check the room first before i take it. and by the way watch for the little salamanders if you stay pool side there is enough gap beside and under door several times i would catch them sneaking into my room, i just hope there is no snakes .. in the grass . opal nojunas north, est maryland
Couldn't stay- it was sooo bad

My family and I arrived at the Eonolodge on Friday October 29th. The room smelt like mold and mildew. Every surface was wet. The roof was covered in tarps. We went down to the front desk and told them we couldn't stay in the rooms they had given us. We were told they had damage from the storms. We looks at a couple more rooms but they all smelt like mildew. We moved to another hotel.
Spend a few dollars more, and stay on comfort

No one at the front desk answers the phone.
There was no maid service on day. I had to go down to ask why and for more towels. It took 30 minutes.
The pool closed one night a little late, 11 pm instead of 10 pm. I understand people need to cool off after a day at the parks, so the extra hour open didn't bother me. But, the stereo was left turned fully up with no one there. I had to ask 4 times, calling and going down there, finally it was turned off at 1 am.
Mattresses are far past their change date. The are collapsed in the center. It was the worst hotel stay I have ever had. There was litteraly a piece of metal bar sticking out from under the boxspring, holding up the one side of the mattress, I took a picture to back up my claim.
Although it was a place to stay, and we spent most of our daytime away from the room, we needed to get a good nights sleep to enjoy a full day at the theme parks.
Next time I will spend an extra hundred or so dollars, and stay in comfort. In my opinion, this place needs to be renovated.
Great deal / value for money

If you want a basic room and value for money this will be for you !
The room was clean and comfortable. It was all we needed as we spent all day and night out at Disney and just needed a place to lay our weary heads !
We would stay here again.
Great experience, even greater prices

My 16 year old daughter and I stayed here from June 8th through June 16th. We had a wonderful time and for the price loved our room and this hotel. Where else can you get a room with a fridge, safe, ironing board/iron, hairdryer, a/c, remote color tv with cable including HBO, HUGE heated outdoor pool with jacuzzi, kiddie pool, 2 guest laundry rooms, huge arcade, gift shop, poolside bar with food, fantastic steakhouse restaurant with great food (also serves breakfast with buffet) 2 guest services desks for all your needs(they give great directions) car rental office and a bar/lounge, for just $42/night. All the staff that I encountered were very friendly and helpful. Maids did great job every day with cleaning the entire room. I don't understand what everyone has been complaining about on these reviews here. They must expect 5 star quality for a budget price. For the price of this hotel, we got way more than we expected. I booked my room on expedia and got the room for $32/night, but did ask for upgrade to a poolside room. This cost me an additional $10/night, but was well worth it. The room cost me a total of $42/night but they even waived the extra upgrade cost the last 2 nights of our stay. I can't complain in any way about the time we spent here at the Econo Lodge maingate. We had a great time. There was one minor inconvenience while we were here that WAS NOT management's fault. Some person set 3 mattresses on fire in 3 different vacant rooms and we were all evacuated to the front of the hotel while fire marshalls and police investigated. The hotel gave everyone free continental breakfast of coffee, juices, assorted rolls, muffins etc... and I also received free dinner at the steakhouse for my daughter and myself for the minor inconvenience which again, was not their fault. You can't go wrong here for the money.
I also want to state that as far as not changing sheets and towels, there are placards in the hotel rooms that you simply hang on the door when you want your linens and towels changed. Most hotels now participate in this environmentally friendly/conservation program. As far as the placards on the room doors stating safety policy, this is also common among hotels and is taken right from the safety tips given on the tourist channel broadcast from the cable company in the entire Orlando/Kissimmee area.
People are making this hotel sound awful, and going way overboard on everything they are complaining about. Don't be fooled by them. This hotel is a GREAT deal and for the money is very nice. Just don't go expecting the Ritz, which it is not.
oh..... just for the record, I am in no way connected to management in any way. This is an honest review written by myself stating the whole truth about my daughter's and my experience. I just felt that this place needed some more positive reviews from someone not feeling the need to complain.
DON'T STAY AT THIS HOTEL!

I read a couple of the reviews before going to this dump and thought - it can't be that bad. But it is. The room stank, was grubby and had no facilities that would make it habitable for anything longer than one night (no tea/coffee making facilities, no fridge). My husband and I had to stay two nights (we arrived in the US on Memorial Weekend!) but moved to the Holiday Inn Nicki Bird two hotels down the 192. The difference was amazing and saved the holiday from being a total disaster.
I left as soon as possible!

DO NOT STAY AT THIS HOTEL. What a dump! On top of the hotel staff's blatent rudeness, the room smelled like cleaning chemicals, and there were blood stains on the boxspring. My friends and I left as soon as we could. The place didn't seem safe at all either. I was approached by a shady guy who was either trying to sell me drugs or mug me. Hawaiian Resort? There's nothing Hawaiian about this place. The price might be cheap, but it's not worth being uncomfortable and dirty.
Rubbish

Econo Lodge head office need to visit this operation. I have never stayed in such a mess in my life. If we hadn't have prepaid we would have left the night we arrived. For the price my family did not expect a palace but basic cleanliness, clean bath room and a ordorless room is not too much to ask for, vacuming seems to be a foreign word. Econo Lodge Hawaiian fails on both accounts. Four people were staying in my room and we were continually asking for 4 towels daily. The only saving grace was the pool. Thanks Florida for the sun, Disney and Universal , or this vacation would have a bust.
Get what you pay for at Econo Lodge Hawaiian
from A TripAdvisor Member
There are great deals to be had, when vacationing in Florida. I just returned from such a deal, however in this case you get what you pay for. The Econo Lodge Hawaiian is a large motel and has had little, if any, upgrades and is not kept in the best repair. The pool is great, barring the annoying parents constantly yelling at their children. The resturant on-site, Black Angus, appears to be great considering the line ups to get a table. But the rooms are where you are spending money to stay. The beds were clean. The carpet on the other hand you may not want to walk on without sandles. The bathroom was not cleaned the entire week we stayed there, and the toilet bowl was beginning to mold. Not all rooms have safes, and ours was not working, not all rooms have alarm clocks. And there is a warning on the door not to open the door to anyone, even someone claiming to work at the motel, without first calling the front desk. We like to tell friends we did Disney World ghetto style. Not a bad place to sleep, but definitely not a place to recommend to friends or family, or anyone with kids really. It's cheap but you get what you pay for.On another note, the local public transportation, the Lynx buses, run often and are cheap ($1.25) if you can find someone to tell you how to use them. They are more interested in getting you to pay for taxi/shuttles (however there is a free shuttle to shopping outlets and Disney World). Feel free to ask questions.
It Sucked!

My husband and I stayed at this hotel for 3 nights and it was terrible!
Our room had a funny oder and our toliet didn't work. After calling the front desk a million times they finally gave us a room that didn't smell! The people at the front dest were not nice, and the steak resturante was all ways very busy. I wouldn't recommed this hotel. The only good thing: The pool was large.
