    Having left Singapore at 6:40 am Tuesday morning, I arrived in Marmaris, Turkey about 11 am this morning (Wednesday) - roughly 36 hours in that travel leg, taking account of time differences. If we could do it over again we would actually skip the mainstream stuff like the ruins and get a more local intimate look at the villages and produce.     ... during which the coach thermometer showed it dropped from 29 to 21 degrees. There was the obligatory cafe stop which added at least 25 minutes to the journey. Barry came back to the coach though with a Turkish Eye for me.
    No rep at the hotel or on the coach, just a CD the driver played as we approached the airport.

    ... that was left was a shallow lake and marsh which gave rise to malaria which wiped out most of the population. An earthquake destroyed the rest of the city.

    Following this we went, by boat, to a local seafood restaurant. We started with a delicious meze plate and then they served chicken, beef or fish. the meze plate, which I had was delicious.

    Then the 1.5 hour ride back to the ship. Tomorrow is Kusadasi.
