... Mallorca was the first place we’ve been where it hasn’t rained while we’ve been touring although, we only missed the storm by a couple of hours – by nine o’clock it was wild and the sea was quite rough although in a ship this size, it doesn’t move around that much.
Pictures will have to follow after I unload the camera
More when we hit Tunis on Suzanne’s birthday.
And at long last we are on our way ... can't quite believe we are actually starting this journey after all the work, planning, talking .... And we know we've been to San Telmo many times before but this time it is different!! And so good to have Simon's old friends Max & Linsey onboard - after all they were really the people responsible for him ending up in Port d'Andratx to begin with.
St Elm, Mallorca, Balearic Islands, Spain sharkita... much more time shopping then I would have so I kept darting off to explore some of the side streets while they were debating with themselves on what to spend their money on.
Later in the afternoon, I met up with Stee and we went to visit the Castillo de Belver, an unusual round fortress on the hilltop overlooking the harbor.
We didn’t have the change to visit another dance club on Thursday night since we departed Palma around midnight.
We arrived in Cala de Calobra around 5:30. We anchored in the small bay and took a tender to shore. The little village has a small pier along one side of a steep hill and the village is crowded on the hillside raising between two much larger and steeper hills. The whole thing looks like some Hollywood set because of its idyllic setting on the small bay. There are several bars and restaurants where we got drinks and ate an early dinner.
sa Calobra, Balearic Islands, Spain mylifesjourney... waded around in the surf or fell back to sleep on the beach. It was good to get rehydrated after all the alcohol and dancing from last night. It was a nice relaxing afternoon with a beautiful beach view with several other yachts in the bay and a parade of nude or topless people walking by.
One of the girls met a guy on the beach. They spent a few hours chatting and getting to know each other. It was ...
... speak no English. We have a great dinner and some nice (and inexpensive) wine. The owners are from Argentina so I discuss my trip to South America with them.
We head out to the main bar/club street. My back is killing me. Every step is painful but I try to put it out of my mind. The area along the harbor has a good café crowd but the bars are empty. We finally go into one at 12. Within 30 minutes there is a good crowd. Almost all ...
... afternoon at the beach back in Playa de Palma. It is so nice to have warm weather with sun. Quite a contrast from Scandinavia. This is an area full of German tourists. Mostly Spring break atmosphere. Apparently it is dominated by package deals. I have seen very few other nationalities here. As an indication, at the airport, Air Berlin dominated the airlines (even though this is Spain it is not Iberia or SpanAir).
Palma, Balearic Islands, Spain and Canary Islands will.traveller... has 4 beds). He is from Madrid but speaks English well. A good chance for me to work on my Spanish. He is 24, in Mallorca for a week to get away from it all. A very nice guy. He had met a woman from Slovakia which keeps him busy during much of my stay.
Dialects of Spanish make it much harder for a novice. I learned Playa for beach in Spanish while in Mallorca it is Platja. Even names of places Mallorca vs Majorca, Ibiza vs Eivissa. This part of Spain speaks Catalan, a ...
i visit spain so often but I had my first trip there at the tender age of about 8 months! haha!
needless to say I can't remember that particular trip but the subsequent ones really hit the spot with me!
I love Majorca because it has something for everybody. Mad nightlife, beautiful beaches and scenery, lovely people and not as "high rise" as main land Spain.
