Beautiful Kas on the Med-a boaters paradise

We had a heck of a rainstorm last night in Olympos; but it didn't delay the plan to travel westward on the Med. So, here we are in Kas, a beautiful quiet sleepy town with a yacht basin filled with sailboats.

The hostel is Beautiful. I think the best I have ever stayed in. And the price isn't too bad, although it is the off season. This Might be It- the place I have been looking for. But, of course, it's too early to tell.

A B&Q Shed with a View

From Pamukkale we headed down to Dalyan via an incredible mountain range. Rural Turkey seems to have many bullet holed road signs in amongst the goats and donkeys.

However, Dalyan is by far the most tourist oriented place we have visited and how Steve did not succumb to the "Full English Breakfast" signs is anyone's guess. That said, it is a stunning setting, based on a river with ancient tombs carved out of the rocks ...

Fly as a bird!

... in a little chat with one of the female workers at the office to better understand the mechanism behind such sport; It is considered to be an almost 100% safe sport as long as the pilots keep their equipments well-maintained, follow the rules and pay attention to the weather. Usually, in case it rained or if the wind was not favorable, the scheduled flights in that day will be cancelled. Well, thankfully, things were looking good for my flight! Of ...

trip to Kalekoy & final night on the boat

... this gave us sensational views of the area and all the little islands. The landscape on the mainland was very hilly and very rocky - from the top we also saw where the richest man in town lived - his house was fairly basic but he did have a helipad! We walked down the other side which was dotted with Lycian tombs and sarcophagus - all have been robbed. A few group shots later we walked back down to the boat for lunch - more of mums fantastic ...

... women from Colorado and a Canadian man and his 22 year old daughter. Our guide was named Spaz, and he lived up too it. He was go, go, go all the time and talked a mile a minute. He ended up telling Nate that he is a minor Turkish movie star...for what that's worth! He is apparently going to London to take some acting classes, so we may all be seeing Spaz on the big screen soon. Wonder if he'll use Spaz or come up with a different name? Anyway, the trip was a good trip. We ...

We were let off at a totally random no horse town at one point. and copped many a gaze from lethargic locals, who probably weren`t privy to too many random Aussie and Korean duos rocking up in the middle of their afternoon. We loafed around the strange town looking like lost sheep, and thankfully kept on truckin not long after. Abot an hour later, our bus arrived in the scenic portside town of Fethiye, admittedly a fairly touristy spot, but a ...

... cities. For everyone else, imagine being in a permanently smoky restaurant (A no smoking bylaw in some of these places would be utterly pointless). I had planned to see two sites on this day: The very long dolmus ride of one and a half hours was only half that on the way back. Tied with the time it took me to walk up and down from Tlos my day was eroding quickly and I had planned to also see the abandoned Greek city of Kayakoy. Now obviously all of these ruins I am ...
