    The main attraction of Durnstein (Dürnstein) is the ruins of the Schloß (castle) Kürnriger in which Richard I, King of England, was held prisoner for a year after returning from a Crusade. His ransom was used by the Duke of Babenberg to build the city walls of Vienna.

    The fringe benefit for us is that as we sail past Melk the CD begins a commentary on the Wachau Valley area which now glides past us. It is a little reminiscent of the Rhine castles area.

    As we are having dinner (the Farewell dinner as many are going to a Concert tomorrow) the ship berths in Vienna. We are given a special treat at dinner as the whole crew (less whoever is steering the ship) come out for the Farewell.
