... carnival started as a result of the lower classes demanding more from their rulers. As a result a festival of equality was created where everyone could party and be merry and enjoy equally. Watch out because the masks have historical significance so try and stay away from the prostitute and dr varieties. Venice filled your head with many beautiful pictures but hurt my wallet!! It's a very touristy city and I would not like to come back in ...

Soup, coffee and cake for lunch in the dining car was very nice and then a short taxi ride had us at ...

... known today for being both the birthplace and home of Mozart as well as being the setting for the semi-biographical blockbuster about the Von Trapp family, The Sound Of Music. Of course there is plenty of other more typical history from evolving from a classically medieval town to what it is today.

Being such a tourist destination there really isn’t a shortage of things to do in one day. Our goal was to see much of it and get a feel for the place ...

... a free souvenir magnet after our tasting!

On our way back to the train station, we stopped by Mirabell Palace and gardens. The gardens were intricately detailed with patterns among the florals. I enjoyed admiring the statues that lined the garden and picturing scenes from the Sound of Music, which had certain scenes filmed here. We boarded the train back to Munich to ensure we arrived with plenty of time to grab a bite to eat and board our sleeper train for our next stop...
