... We rested/fumed back at our apartment first. Luckily, the front door was hard to lock and was still unlocked and we had left the key under a mat by our door upstairs.

The pathways are old stone that have turned to gloss from all the years of foot traffic, and the 'alley cats' seem to own the streets.
