    Walking around Lucerne town

    It rained last night and was still drizzling when we got up this morning so we waited a while and then went off on our walk around town to see the famous dying lion statue and the medieval wall with its many towers.

    By the time we got to the lion, which is a beautiful, larger than life size statue that has been hewn out of the rock face and which has a large reflective pool in front of it, the weather was starting to clear up nicely.

    ... layer of tempered chocolate before it goes through a cooling chamber and at the other end they individually stamp one end of the truffle with the company symbol and spray little raspberry paint on. We tasted one when we went downstairs again. Very nice. Also now appreciate why you pay so much for chocolates like these. The truffles don’t have any preservatives and only last four weeks so we couldn’t take any back to Australia as that is over five weeks away. ...

    ... our older gentlemen guests thanked our Swiss guide for the tour and said we all just thought the Swiss didn't want to fight. These successful secret fortresses deserve to have their story told. If you can read German you can visit the website at www,festung-vitznau.ch After the fortress we were back to the hotel for an included dinner of soup, chicken and vege and ice cream for dessert We all turned in for an early night ready for Lichtenstein and Austria tomorrow ...
