... we could just walk off the ship and start the tour. The old part of Passau is an island, where the three rivers converge. The Inn River comes from Switzerland and you can feel the coolness on that side of the island. ... quite nice, typically fallish - cool in the mornings, sometimes with some thick fog and warming in the afternoon, particularly when it is sunny. We' re seeing highs between 10 and 15 degrees. It has been too cool to stay up on the upper deck because of the wind, mostly generated but the ship's speed. Fortunately we haven't had any rain. Weather in Vienna, Melk and Cesky Krumlov was expectional and with our walking tours we had dressed too warmly.

... and our leisure time walk around town again, we were advised that the water levels upstream are still too low (have been for months due to a dry summer) and we are therefore going to be bused to Nuremberg on Saturday and back to our original ship the Bragi. We won't miss anything they tell us but will need to do an extra pack and unpack. An inconvenience but we are told that it is rather seamless.

Enjoy the pics and tomorrow we go to Regensberg by bus.

Apparently the Bishop Princes, were very egocentric people, and they loved building extravagant buildings and putting their personal touches on them. Last night, we packed our suitcases in anticipation of the transfer. The effort was handled incredibly efficiently by Viking. While we were on the bus tour to Regensburg, our luggage was removed from the Tor and delivered to the identical stateroom on the Var.
