Upon entering the state of Mississippi we were surprised to see such beautiful, forested land. The kudzu vine is everywhere and it beautifully drapes the trees and bushes. ... arrived so we had some familiarities. I had so much fun, we had a juggling competition and just chatted whilst kicking the ball at our feet (definitely cool).
After a few days of doing not much in the dorms, waiting for the team to flow in, ready for pre-season.
I began to get sick. Definitely not something I planned for when training for pre-season. But, nothing was stopping me, I didn't come all this way to sit out first day of training and ...
... and La doesn't have alot of national parks either) - - I went to Cane River Creole Historical Park, which had me riding through some of the Bayou country. This is actually comprised of 2 old plantations - with slave quarters, etc - nice set up... a neat thing here is that is was an unmanned site - no rangers on duty.. I guess they come by in the morning to open & evening to close & probably just patrol around - - it was just me and a retired couple ...
... and a theme for coming days, lots of white wooden baptist churches.
Because of Spring Breakers traffic and Mobile we were later than we intended so decided to stay in Hattiesburg and head to Vicksburg first thing. Mmmm Hattiesburg, looked small on map, wrong, like all in America it was BIG - spreadout - no town centre - ... Ended up in a Quality Inn, eating in a Farmers Market (not what we expected) and having an early night! Hahahaha
Hi All, While I hadn't planned on writing a blog for this road trip,Linda inspired me to write about this part of the country that Steve and I, nor many others, have visited.
