... planned to either go to Butchart Gardens or Whale watching or both with our day here, but as we did the gardens last night and whale watching in Tofino we ended up having a free day to just potter - a rarity in our fairly full on schedule.

We took advantage of this with a late start to the day, before wandering along the streets in the sunshine looking for somewhere that did an English roast dinner. Failing miserably to find such a thing we ended up ...

We were at sea ALL DAY AGAIN IN THE FOG. Both of us were so ready to be on land again and mostly so we would have internet! LOL It's hard being forced to unplug yourself from your phone & email. I did go down to the ship's internet café and logged on for a bit so I could get news about my mother & print our boarding passes. It ended up costing me about $25 for 20 minutes. :(( Ridiculous.

Back on the bus we headed to Butchart Gardens. We had 2 hours there which was only just enough. We went to the sunken garden first which was a limestone quarry which Mrs Butchart converted. Wow she did a good job!! We also saw the rose garden, the Italian garden,and the Japanese garden. There was a spectacular fountain with lots of different patterns happening with the water. The gift shop had lots of lovely things that we couldn't buy - too ...
