... picked up some of the Queen's tea for Dan before lunch, and then they gave us more as 'gifts' after the meal. So Dan's getting a lot of tea. Good thing he really likes that particular type of tea. We followed tea time with a stroll, stopping at The Bay Centre before meeting up with three-quarters of the James clan. ... an hour early for our sailing but the child in the ticket booth sent us straight into the lineup for the earlier ferry..

I really cant believe how friendly and helpful the Canadians are, always seem to go out of their way to help..

Loading was smooth... I can tell you are just waiting for something to go wrong.. it always does..

... their own uniqueness, particularly Chemainus which was once a bustling mining town but since the industry failed the locals needed a new draw card so they painted murals on many of the walls around town. On every street there was something different and coupled with the small town charm (and a great bakery!) it was worth the stop. We made it to Nanaimo and our first port of call was the Dinghy Dock Pub.

... after the island was hit hard by the economic struggles of years ago. Then there is Virgule, an old French man as strange as his name that wandered the town with a broken ladder. Unique characters on a unique island full of history and heritage that I enjoyed immensely. I can see why my family have all either lived here or are thinking of moving here... it is definitely an amazing, special place. NEXT: Japan... meet white Godzilla! ...
