Harry'S Hotel Home Linz

hey guys, I actually don't have that much time to write for you today, because we went to Neuschwanstein castle (the disneyland castle) and it was absolutely AMAZING!!! Words cannot describe how good it was and if I start writing about it I may end up going on for pages and pages. I brought A LOT (and I mean a lot) of souviners because I'm only going to be there once and had so much fun (especially on the 4 hour bus ride ...

An estimated 100,000 people were killed here. Auschwitz and Birkenau, near Krakov, were massively larger than this. The presentations of personal effects had also been exceptionally poignant. Never the less, the experience here is very powerful.

Ate Linzer torte in Linz which was probably the highlight of my 3 hours in Linz :)

... was called U-Hof. I had Rindsgoulasch (a meat goulash stew) with servielletenknodel (a dumpling that is steamed in a cloth napkin). Once again, delish, but lets just say I had to walk home to try to lighten the load that was pressing my stomach outward.

After a little R&R we continued our tour – to one of the local biergardens for a beer pretzel and of course some beer. Then, we met Harry at one of Harry and Mary Katherine’ ...

... through the vineyard – we didn’t get caught, so all was good. It also turns out that the lot we parked in was a pay lot, even on Sunday – YIKES – but who would have thought? Fortunately, since we didn’t realize that whole need for payment until after the fact, it turns out that we must have arrived just after five in Dernstein and you only have to pay up until five. Thankful and satisfied with our day, we hopped in our car and headed back to Linz.

... nu weet ik dus wat treinziek zijn inhoudt.. Daar is gewoon iets meer bier dan normaal voor nodig, en iets minder slaap. Op de heenweg naar Linz was het dus heeerlijk rustig in de trein (werd op de terugweg wel goedgemaakt..). Trouwens, Linz stond in het thema van wachten: om te zorgen dat we onze trein niet misten (8.40) moesten we om 8.10 verzamelen.. En dan sta ik natuurlijk weer pünktlich om 8.03 op Westbahnhof... Maar goed, in Linz liepen we door de grote winkelstraat ...

... Well to each his own. I found myself by the river, after this. Across from there was the neue rathaus, the new town hall. Look I'm sorry Linz, I know your old townhall is a maybe not as great a you'd like, but the new one is horrible! So ugly! The best the guide book can say about it contains a large model of linz and is surrounded by pleasant cafes. I didn't go over there today anyway. I went past the Lentos Kunst Museum, and got totally fooled by the "cars ...

... with 3 different branches outside of the centre. Our Novotel (great sale rates!) was on the main line south of the Hbf, only about 300m from the WIFI tram stop. Despite the lack of lines the system has benefited from tunnels from the Hbf south for a few stops, speeding up the journey without traffic. These tunnels and associated stations are attractive and clean, showing that the city does like their trams, the few that they have. After checking into our hotel we were determined to ...

... the World Cup. It was really depressing for us to see the "pizza-delivery-boys" getting that golden pot in Berlin... After all, the bad mood didn´t last for a very long time and soon we got our humour back, esp. Noah who clamoured for a nation wide pizza and lasagne boycott...
