Today was a long travel day thanks to the sequester cuts in air traffic control. I started in the morning rush hour traffic in Los Angeles. Two delayed flights, and an hour wait for the shuttle bus later, I finally made it to my hotel at the Harrisburg airport at 10:00 p.m.
I can't wait to pick up the RV tomorrow morning and settle into …
... imagine that Christmas time here becomes a pilgrims paradise. The only 'Stars' here in Bethlehem are the large one on the Main Street, and several others on buildings and an illuminated one above the town, although lots of real stars have stayed at this hotel, including Bob Dylan, Tony Bennett, Ray Charles, James Taylor and many others. We had a great brunch at the hotel. It attracts guests from miles around every ...
... so there must be something in their simplicity that leans towards "capitalism". None the less, very polite people and one amish stall holder welcomed her photo being taken (hope she didn't expect a tip). Nah! Life is simple! Tomorrow will explore the amish farms and lifestyle so should be very interesting. John is wondering if they have a golf course or a wine shop doing business?? I called for the shuttle 3 times and they left me waiting at the airport for nearly an hour. When the shuttle arrived there was a red flashing light on the dash and a beeping sound. The driver assured me I didn't have to worry, there was nothing wrong with the brakes. When we arrived I understood why they weren't answering the phone - the only desk clerk was outside smoking. The lobby TV was loudly playing a telenovela in Spanish. The restaurant and pool were closed. The beds are horribly uncomfortable and I would not want to walk barefoot on the carpet. A piece of the bathroom cabinetry was falling off. Don't stay here unless you absolutely have to.
