    ... all street lights have a Rossi flag flying from them and even the Armco railing is wrapped in a banner of repeated 46's. We parked the bike in the main street right outside the official office of the Valentino Rossi Fan Club. After checking out the memorabilia in the office we moved on to the Official Store for a look.     ... I'd say she is spot on because the whole of the beachfront is one hotel after another. Between the hotels many restaurants and cafes are getting ready to greet the summer tourists - people are painting walls, planting flowers and generally tidying up for the expected influx in a few weeks - glad we won't be here then!

    ... beach snob, having grown up with Ocean City nearby and having lived in Cape May and St. Kitts, but it just doesn't feel like beach to me without salt air. That's like a fundamental requirement to me. Without that, it's just "the lake" or something.

    On Friday, we traveled by train and walked in the rain.

    Even precipitation is lovely in Italy.

    ... Athens drivers (by a hair) and then settled in to plan what we would be seeing in Athens. Top of the list was the Acropolis – no not the Milk Bar!!

    Public transport in Athens was very civilised! You could buy a five-day pass for less than 10 Euros, which would cover buses, trams, Metro as well as suburban trains.
