So today was an example of how wonderful my husband Craig really is. Many years ago in 1983 when we Eurailed our way around Europe our train stopped at a pretty place called Zell am See in Austria. We left Hotel Tauterman and it was a very pretty drive to Zell am See. ...

... as large as the first gondola. We arrived at the Gipfelwelt 3000 named that because we were at 3000 meters in elevation.

Our first stop at Gipfelwelt was the Top of Salzburg a panoramic platform, elevation 3029 meters or 9,940' with breathtaking views of the Valley, the Zeller See and an endless chain of summits of the central Alps. It was cold at the top, about 4* C which is 39* F. Next we went through the Nationalpark Gallery situated in ...

Cheryl and I spent more than an hour driving narrow little, windy hairpin turn roads to get from Mondsee to Marchteschellengberg and all we had to do was drive another 10 mintues past Anif ...

We were ready to go about 8:15 today. We drove south to the Entrance to the drive and paid 34 Euros to drive the road. It was worth every cent! Almost immediately we started seeing snow covered peaks. The drive took us through the Hohe Tauern National Park, the biggest nature reserve in Central Europe. The drive began on an almost cloudless day, though a little chilly because the road was in the shade and there was a breeze. We had a play by play of ...

... Tyrolean style houses, rolling hills, farmland, and beautiful, beautiful lakes. All the while, the mountains played the backdrop for the scenes that unfolded before us. It was absolutely wonderful.

We finally reached Salzburg around 5:30 and as luck would have it, our bus stopped at Miarabellplatz right near our hotel. YES. We got off the bus and I told Cheryl we should take the nasty lady's bag off the bus and leave it on the side of the road. Obviously we did not do ...
