... world's Joshua trees grow here. They are not really a tree, but a species of yucca. A majority are pretty scrawny, but there were many fine specimens. However, I think the best feature of this park are all the boulder stacks throughout the area. They create many strange, eerie formations including Skull Rock ( very cool). We got set up but quickly realised a few school boy errors, we had no canopy or other form of shade. This was a bad thing in 105' temperatures! ... AK informed SJ was well rough and where the gangsters are from. It just looked like any other road in LA. Even in the crazy rush hour traffic the Americans are much more chilled drivers and far less aggressive than British drivers. The only annoying thing is that no one says thanks if you let them in and they don't flash you in either. Our hotel was ok, clean and had a pool. SJ is struggling with the pillows in the hotels as they are too fluffy. We unpacked the ...
