Historical Traveler Reviews of Hard Rock Hotel And Casino Tampa
FALSE ADVERTISING For this casino

After reading weekly ads in the Orlando Sentinel stating room for 89. per person, free valet parking, free breakfast, free CD, my wife and I decided to go. At check-in, I was told they new nothing of what I was talking about. My room was 190. no free valet parking, no Breakfast. I did get a CD. Upon losing 1500. on machines that would not even accept a Players Card, I went to bed. The next morning, Breakfast of (2) Eggs and Sausage,Toast, and Coffee, Waffle, Bacon, Coffee and Orange Juice was 30. plus tip. Don't waist your time, if in Florida, go to Mississippi where the real Casinos are and You get something for your money.

No table games except poker which was way too busy to get in on. The slot machines were some kind of bingo combination which just sucked up money. What a ripoff. No blackjack or other games.

The best part of the visit was the usual celeb. memorabilia. Next was watching the ceiling lighting change colors. Other than that, not much. As a casino, it's not much of one. Rows of too tightly spaced slot machines, no table games other than a "poker room", and over-priced drinks for patrons spending cash on very tight slots. What a shame that they couldn't make it a little more exciting for players. Next, if you are affected by heavy cigarette smoke, this place is not where you wanna be. I didn't stay in the hotel, so no comment on that. Perhaps they'll take some real tips from Vegas, and make it a place you'll want to visit again. Hope so, for Tampa's sake. Thanks for reading my review.
Very Disappointed

My family was very disappointed in the casino. The slot machines wouldn't take many of our paper monies. We also didn't like the fact that when we cashed out of one machine we couldn't use the ticket that was dispensed from that machine in another machine. We would have to wait in line at the teller (the tellers were very unfriendly) or find a casino employee walking around to cash in the ticket. There was not a wide variety of slot machines available. Smoke from the many lit cigarettes was terrible. The machines (all of them) would have to pay twice what they do now before you can consider them tight. I walked around the casino several times and never saw anyone 'win'. I have never been to a casino where someone had to pay for their drinks while they were gambling. Whoever is running this casino could learn a lot from a trip to the casinos in Biloxi Mississippi which is where my family and friends will take our trips in the future. There is absolutely nothing happening at the Seminole Hard Rock Casino that would entice my family and friends to return.Very Disappointed,Tom Thomas

This casino is a joke! I also used to go in and win at least $200 more than what I went in with. Since the completion of this over priced hotel and all the other extras, I have done nothing but, LOSE! I agree with the other writer, the machines are TIGHT, to the point of everyone being so angry that they have scratched the new expensive elevator doors leading from the parking garage and, I hear nothing but, I am never coming back from people around me! They used to give away cars once a week and now it is a HUMMER!! guess why the slot machines are soooooooooooo tight?????? Someone has to pay for that fancy place in Tampa that, the locals can usually only afford to look at! Another tourist trap! I have been to Harrods casino in North Carolina and it was much better and, I actually won there, the atmosphere was much better. I also find Tampa to be a very dirty city. Old and ran down. when you go to Orlando and look at the surroundings near the theme parks, they are beautiful. When u go to Busch gardens, it is an eye sore until you are inside the park. City of Tamap should be ashamed of this!

Check-in chaos

The hotel was beautiful however we were very unhappy upon checking in.
We reserved the luxury suite and a deluxe for our engagement party a week prior to the vacation. The first nights deposit was deducted from my bank account immediately as a deposit for the 2 rooms; however, when we arrived to check-in we were told our rooms were not available (What was the $300 for?) I was told by the reservations manager that they were double booked and there was some "tribal thing that she couldn't explain" behind us not getting our rooms. They had a 'walk policy' though and she would be happy to walk us to the next hotel. If your customers' rooms become unavailable after they have paid their deposit then they need to be informed before making the trip there and be given a better excuse then "some tribal thing". After we became upset and it was mentioned that this was my engagement weekend 6 reservations magically got cancelled and our luxury room was now available. That was the first of many upsetting surprises of the weekend. It ended with us having dinner reservations for 15 at Lloyds (the retaurant located within the casino) that got pushed back an hour and once we did get our food 5 of the dinners were sent back because of poor proportions and the fact that they were cold. A couple hours after check out we realized that someone had left a cell phone in the room. We called and spoke with security and were told that everything gets turned in at the end of shift. When we called the next morning nothing had shown up but my fiance's voicemail had been changed to a woman's message. We are now having to get involved with theft charges on top of everything. Couple dishonest staff with the fact that there is no video poker, black jack, craps, etc., and the incredibly slow service and the only good thing about the weekend was my engagement. The Hard Rock Casino is a big let-down.
This is not a Hard Rock / stay away

Sorry, nice try but this is NO a Hard Rock property. 1. The is NO cafe' Hard Rock Style 2. How do tyou get 3 or 4 cents change when playing nickle slot machines? 3. Not a real Casino / NO roulette or craps tables 4. Local hispanic community have not only taken over the weekend clientel in their so called Nightclub, that is mostly all you see there working. 5. Very close to another let down (Ybor City). 6. Across the street is another eyesore, a Clear Channel property of a so called concert theater. Question ? Do any acts besides Clear Channel acts get booked in there? I think not Please Tampa, wake up and smell the coffee. Bad move

With the Hard Rock Hotel/Casino in Las Vegas being my hotel/casino when I'm in Vegas........I decided to make a room reservation at the brand new Hard Rock Hotel/Casino in Tampa and decided to drive over the week before to check it out. It was about an hour and 20 minute drive from Orlando and very easy to get to. I must say, the hotel and casino was very nice.......however, my disappointment came when the server came around for cocktail orders.......$1 for a cup of coffee, $1.50 bottle of water, etc. If people are putting their money in the slot machines.......then these items need to free or a lower price. Also, after walking the huge casino floor...........it appeared that no one was winning on the slot machines. I, myself, blew about $50 during my stay of two hours. No blackjack tables and no video poker either. When I returned home to Orlando - I immediately called and cancelled my room reservation. Unless I'm in the Tampa area on business..........I probably will not go back to the Hard Rock. Very disappointed!
Brand new and beautiful

If the first day is an indication, the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino will be a premier destination in the Tampa/Clearwater/St.
petesburg area. I atttended the grand opening and stayed four nights.
The service staff is friendly and appeared to be well trained and knowledable. The rooms are exquisitly decorated with plenty of space.
As the casino is attached to the hotel, security is very high. I felt very secure at the sight of many of the security personnel around the hotel, parking lots and adjecent areas. The location is excellent just right off I-4 and a couple of miles from I-75. A 30 minutes drive will put you right on some of the most beautiful beaches in Florida.
Downtown Tampa is 15 minutes away and the famous Tampa historic district is 10 minutes away. The hotel has a wonderful restaurant and there are quite a few fast food venues located inside the casino as well as a night club. Room service is open 24 hours a day as contrasted to the 11 PM ort midnight cut off of most other hotels. The casino has a separate entrance minimizing traffic in the hotel lobby. I highly recommend it.
