    I discovered that if I look at the photos in my blog on my phone I see only the picture titles but not the more explanatory captions. When I look at them on my iPad the captions and next/prev arrows are visible, plus comments added by others. The lesson is to view them with some larger format device, I guess. Our first full day in this historic city began after an 11-hour catch-up sleep. The bed was so comfortable that we just decided to live in it awhile ...

    ... are always castles and in this area we visited Croft, Stokesay, Ludlow, Shrewsbury - and I know it's hard to believe, but they are all different and just when we say 'not today' it turns out to be a really good one.

    Ironbridge is famous for the engineering feat of it's 18C iron bridge arching 55' above the Severn River and the birthplace of the industrial revolution. So many industries flourished here - iron, china, tiles, tar, claypipe... a most interesting town ...

    ... castle opens at 9:30am, so we had some time to kill. That why they have a gift shop. At 9:30 we got in line. I'm very happy I booked my tickets online, all we had to do was go to the window with the computer. But in our info and print it out. 1 minute later we were in. We looked around for a few minutes and realized there was a free tour, just of the grounds, that left in 15 minutes. Gary was our tour guide. He gave us some great history of the grounds and the individual buildings. ...

    ... windy roads, lovely scenery, and booked into our pub. Was a lovely village, home to the MacNab Clan and they have a island, where they are all buried (only the dead ones) in the middle of the Dochart River, which runs through the village. We went off for walks, around the loch, zigzagged up to the railway walk (no trains now) and walked right down the glen round trip 14klms admiring the scenery. Just lovely ...

    ... going!

    Even though today was officially the start of my one year trip, before I could get going I had a lot of stuff to finish up around the flat. I still had a lot of packing and cleaning to do before I could turn the keys over to my letting agent so it was a hectic morning. Luckily I managed to get everything done before my good friend Graham came over to give me a lift to the airport.
