We settled outside a random pub on the side of the road and promptly discovered we were less than a km from them so headed along to catch up with them and Jamie and Jess (also friends originally from wellington) for a fun pub dinner.       Fuelled up for another busy day by eating a full Irish breakfast. Packed up in preparation for our flight to Edinburgh. It is amazing how much **** you accumulate when you have been in a car for 9 days. Food, water and wine were all ditched as we couldn't take them on the plane.       ... 12th century, but much of the structures that survive today were contructed in the 17th and 18th centuries. The audio tour was great, and we were fascinated to hear about the impressively complex and violent history of the fortress and city. The castle was well maintained and wonderfully medieval in appearance.
