... our hotel early, we thought we'd try to duck into the nearby town of Ennis and see what we could see. Meh. The town center was kind of dirty and smelled funny, so we just turned around and walked back to the car and drove to Dromoland Castle. Which is BEAUTIFUL. And I'm guessing somewhere we would never have stayed if we had booked everything night by night. It is a five star luxury hotel. I've never stayed in one of these ...

... to Shannon Airport, but it stopped at all the housing and industrial estates between Limerick and the airport. Don't say we haven't seen Limerick, the good and the bad. Today was a really good day. Started off w a fab bkfst at Dromoland Castle. Egg whites with bacon and onions--felt like real food! The Castle is marvelous and the weather could not have been better--bright and sunny. Took a walk around the grounds--about 400 acres. The Castle was built by the OBriens, who managed to keep it up all the way to the 1950's. Of course about 300 years ago, pops bet the whole thing (all 22,000 acres) on a two horse race ...

... happy. They apparently can’t keep up with us old folk!

I was excited for our next stop, the Cliffs of Moher. I really enjoyed this area the last time we were here. The cliffs run for 5 miles along the Atlantic coastline. At their highest point, they are about 700 feet high. Every year there are deaths from people getting too close to the edge. One of the students got a little too close and some woman snapped that ...
