Breath of Fresh Air

... cliffs. If the height isn't awe-inspiring enough, the proximity in which you can approach the edge is. Walking along the edge has proven to be one of the most outrageous things I have done to this day. You litearlly walk along this cliff edge and look down only to see a complete vertical drop to the ocean. Most of it is fenced off, but there is a certain area that those who are willing enough can cross over and hike their way ...

Ireland! (Part II)

... the museum covered all of Irish history, the coolest exhibit by far was titled "Kings and Sacrifice", and was dedicated to the age of early kings around the turn of the century. In there, they had a number of really old bodies that had been found in peat fields, and were completely preserved as a result (skin, hair, organs, etc). Though it was a little creepy (namely when they still had eyes), it was definitely something that you don't ...

Cliffs of Moher

... you could really experience the cliffs. There were cattle and sheep on one side and the sheer cliffs on the other... it really made me feel like I was a part of nature and Ireland as a whole. Look through some of the pictures to see what Im talking about. Overall it was a fantastic trip and with the group rate we got for bringing like 12 kids it only ended up costing like 20 euro the entire day and I need all the budget saving trips that I can get!
Cliffs and Trad

... Apparently it draws quite the TV audiences!

We arrived in Tarbert in time to catch the noon ferry across the Shannon River to Killimer. Usually, dolphins can be seen following the boats, but there were none on our crossing.

We wanted to drive the peninsula to Loop Head, which was about a 43-mile trip, so we stopped in the town of Kilrush for lunch first. Our favorite Irish lunch is vegetable soup and brown bread. Here we had to ...

the Cliffs of Insanity!

... all of which we are looking forward to seeing up close. Further along the way, we stopped at some more cliffs and these were really nice as well because we were able to get up close to these ones without any cattle barriers.

The landscape is covered in stone walls used to divide territory and keep animals in (as well as deal with a plethora of stones). We saw these in England and Wales as well, but not as many. The Irish stone walls ...

Irish Road Trip ... Part 2

... Bru Na Boinne. It's the area that houses some of the largest passage tomb burial sights in the world. We did a tour of Newgrange - a massive passage tomb that was built 500 years before the pyramids ... but with the knowhow to not let a single drop of rain enter the tomb for over 5000 years! After a great visit - Ian & I were the only ones on our tour - we made the hour drive back to Dublin.

Can Life Get Any Better?

... took place on the evening of August 21, 1879. Two women were walking back to their home in the rain when they passed by the back of the town church. There against the wall of the church stood Mary, St. Joseph, St. John the Evangelist, and an altar with a lamb and a cross on it. Flying around the altar were several angels. The women called several other people to the church. They too saw the apparition. All told, 15 people saw the figures that night. Another five saw a bright ...
